MISSEDABEAT has had another community defibrillator installed/fitted.
Our most recent local community defibrillator to be installed is on a house in The Bridle, Woodham Village.
Another family have supported MISSEDABEAT and had a defibrillator installed at their home in "The Bridle, Woodham Village, which is registered on the national circuit and is available during a medical emergency.
They have also taken on the guardianship role and will work with MISSEDABEAT ensuring that the defibrillator is ready for use during emergencies.
They feel it is important to reach out and help the local community. The closest defibrillator is located at St Elizabeths Close, which is 660 metres from The Bridle. This might not seem far but making this journey by foot, would take some time (every minute lost reduces the chances of survival by 10%).
MISSEDABEAT hopes to reduce the time that it takes to access any defibrillator within Newton Aycliffe to around 500 metres. The routes/roads used need to be taken into account, as this can also increase the time taken to access community defibrillators significantly.
Local residents from The Bridle were delighted to hear the news & you can read their comments below :
"Amazing - I’ve witnessed the importance early CPR and access to a defibrillator can have so couldn’t be more in favour of that for us" Joanna.
"Great idea, fully support" Stu & Pat.
"Sounds like an excellent plan. And as you know I am well aware of the Charity and the work that Preston puts into the cause and of course you two now as well. Great gesture you certainly have my support"- Colin.
MISSEDABEAT would like to take the time to thank one of our ‘electrical angels’- AA Electrical & Security Systems, who continues to support with the installation of community defibrillators. This is the 3rd community defibrillator that Allan Jones has worked on, in partnership with MISSEDABEAT.
MISSEDABEAT are looking at other locations around the town, and will be reaching out to householders in the hope that they work with MISSEDABEAT to install more community defibrillator around the local area. MISSEDABEAT are currently working on a number of community defibrillators that they hope to have installed over the coming months.
