The Black Bull Trimdon has community defibrillator installed

Nicola and David Brassell, landlords of the Black Bull at 32 Front Street North, Trimdon, TS29 6PG, have collaborated with MISSEDABEAT to enhance the safety of their patrons and village visitors. David, a long-time friend of Mark from MISSEDABEAT, reached out to discuss ways to fund a community defibrillator. Through the combined efforts of David, Nicola, and their supportive local patrons, they successfully raised the necessary funds.

The defibrillator, now fully installed at the pub and registered on the national defibrillator circuit, was installed by Ben Simpson, a cardiac arrest survivor who recently launched his own business. Ben, a special partner working alongside MISSEDABEAT, is dedicated to increasing defibrillator accessibility. Previously, the village's nearest community defibrillator was 4-5 minutes away, but now, these crucial minutes can make all the difference in a cardiac emergency.

The Black Bull also has a charity box on the bar to support MISSEDABEAT. Funds raised go toward maintaining the defibrillator, including new pads, a hygiene kit, and other essentials needed if the defibrillator is ever used. David has also taken on the guardianship of the defibrillator, ensuring it undergoes regular checks to remain ready for use. Both Mark and David are committed to ensuring that the defibrillator is always prepared with necessary replacements to save lives.

Mark has also shared with David his plans to add bleed control kits to community defibrillator cabinets, which will be registered on the national circuit. Bleed control kits are essential medical equipment during critical incidents, providing additional life-saving resources in emergencies.

MISSEDABEAT has secured 25 places in the Junior Great North Run and would love to have you on board! An application is also underway for places in the adult race. Let’s make it a memorable and enjoyable event together!
