MISSEDABEAT was approached by members of the Little Chefs Big Chefs Community Hub in Bishop Auckland and it was agreed that we would work together in order to have a community defibrillator installed at the Community Hub
We all agreed that having a defibrillator in the community increases the survival rate of those who have cardiac arrests. Although the risk of a cardiac arrest increases with age, it can happen to anyone, including children.
The Little Chefs Big Chefs Community Hub, is set in a residential area, surrounded by bungalows, with a nearby school church, parish centre, play area and football playing fields.
The nearest 24 hour defibrillator is 0.6 miles from the Hub, this delay can impact the survival rate of a victim. Every minute it takes to have a defibrillator the casualty survival reduces by 10%
Plans have been in place, and the community have come together in order to have an accessible defibrillator installed to the front of the LCBC Community Hub. The Hub intends to also run regular first aid training which will empower those in our community and educate them in using defibrillators as well as giving first aid to others.
We would like to Thank our electrical angel Allan Jones (AA Electrical) who kindly offered his services to support the Hub and MISSEDABEAT with the installation of the defibrillator.
LCBC was originally formed to teach all ages and abilities how to cook for better health. They have grown to provide activities that promote the health and well-being of the local community, working from the Community Hub.
