📢 Exciting News from Darlington Squash Club! 🏓💛Community Defibrillator installed at the club

We’re thrilled to share that, thanks to a fantastic collaboration with MISSEDABEAT, our community now has a life-saving defibrillator installed inside the squash club!

This milestone was made possible by the determination and generosity of our members and the invaluable support of MISSEDABEAT.

The charity kindly gifted us incredible rugby and football memorabilia, which played a key role in helping us raise the necessary funds. The entire club pulled together, showing the true strength of community spirit.

Mark from MISSEABEAT presented Ben Hardy with a signed and framed Lawrence Dallaglio Rugby Ball, while Lee Hardy was presented with a signed and framed Fabian Schär Newcastle United shirt on behalf of Martin Arkle, who had the winning number.

Mark also presented Lee and the club with the community defibrillator, which will now be available during the club’s hours.

The defibrillator will be registered on the national circuit to ensure its accessibility in emergencies. Lee Hardy has taken on the role of guardian, committing to performing regular checks to keep this vital equipment in optimal condition.

This achievement comes with a heartfelt reminder of just how crucial this equipment is. On the 23rd of August, one of our members, Walid Shennib, suffered a cardiac arrest at the club. Immediate CPR and the rapid response of paramedics saved his life. Walid has since made a remarkable recovery, and his story underscores why having a defibrillator on-site is non-negotiable.

Walid Shennib and his son Alex

His son, Alex, played a key role in supporting his father through this challenging time and is now a passionate advocate for defibrillators and their life-saving potential.

Every minute matters in a cardiac emergency. Without CPR or a defibrillator, survival rates drop by 10% every minute.

Having a defibrillator readily available can mean the difference between life and death.

 Walid shared his thoughts:

“I think it is great for the club to have a defibrillator if it is going to save someone’s life.”

Join the Cause! This incredible success inspires us to push for more defibrillators across our community. If you’d like to support our ongoing efforts, please consider donating or fundraising with us. Together, we can ensure no one faces the devastating scenario of needing help that’s not readily available.

Thank you, MISSEDABEAT, and every club member who made this possible. Your efforts are more than appreciated—they’re life-saving.
