This year’s Great North Run will go down as one of the most unforgettable yet. The skies above Newcastle lit up red, white and blue as the Red ArrowsĀ roared over the Tyne Bridge, creating a spine-tingling start before sweeping across the South Shields coastline for a stunning finale. šŸ’™ā¤ļøšŸ¤

Sir Brendan Foster, the legend who founded the race, set us off with pride — and with over 60,000 runners šŸƒā€ā™‚ļøšŸƒā€ā™€ļøĀ taking part and more than 200,000 spectatorsĀ lining the streets, the atmosphere was nothing short of electric.

šŸ† Race Winners:

  • Men’s Elite: Alex MutisoĀ (Kenya) in an incredible 1:00:52

  • Women’s Elite: Sheila ChepkiruiĀ (Kenya) in a brilliant 1:09:32

  • Runners-upĀ included world-class athletes Bashir Abdi, Abel Kipchumba, Vivian Cheruiyot,Ā and Eilish McColgan.

Celebrities weren’t just waving from the sidelines — they were running with us! Stars such as Tommy Fury, Joe Wicks, Dame Kelly Holmes, and Sara DaviesĀ all joined the charge, adding to the buzz of the day.

This year we had an amazing 21 adult runners šŸƒā€ā™‚ļøšŸƒā€ā™€ļøĀ pounding the pavements for our charity, many of them taking on their very first half marathon — and every single one crossing that finish line with pride. We were also delighted to welcome back Jonathan SimpsonĀ and Andrew Dixon, both returning for their second year running the GNR in support of Missed a Beat. šŸ‘šŸ’™ā¤ļø

Combined with our 25 junior runners šŸƒā€ā™€ļøšŸƒā€ā™‚ļøĀ who lit up the Junior Great North Run on Saturday, that’s 46 inspirational runnersĀ wearing our name and raising funds for life-saving equipment.

When we think back to last year — with just 1 junior runner (the amazing Leo) and 4 adult runners — the growth has been nothing short of WOW šŸ’™ā¤ļø The support, the smiles, the courage… it fills us with pride and gratitude.

šŸ’› Every step run, every mile covered, helps us raise vital funds to:

  • Purchase and install defibrillators & cabinets

  • Add bleed control kitsĀ to our community defibrillators

  • Maintain the equipment we already have in place so it’s always ready when needed most.

šŸ™ From the bottom of our hearts — thank you to every runner, supporter, and cheerleader. You are helping to save lives.

šŸŽ‰ And the journey doesn’t end here… We’re planning a special celebration eveningĀ to thank all our junior and adult runners, to relive the memories, and to celebrate the incredible impact you’ve made together. Details will follow soon, and we’d love to see as many of you there as possible!
