During our end of season party the Women wanted to raise some money for charity. We hadn’t chosen who we would donate to but after a chat with the team the overwhelming decision was to donate the money raised to a charity close to the club and we did just that tonight
The Women chose to donate to The Missed a Beat Foundation who kindly donated us with a defibrillator last year and have continued to donate and support local teams and communities by providing life saving equipment. We invited Mark Preston to our training session tonight to present a cheque for £285 and to show our continued support to all the great work both him and the foundation are doing.
Without immediate treatment 95% of sudden cardiac arrest are fatal, defibrillators and effective CPR are the only definitive treatment for sudden cardiac arrest. Delivering a shock within 3-5 minutes after a casualty has collapsed increases their survival chance from 6% to 74%. This is why the work of the foundation is vitally important and we are glad we can support.
