Henknowle Community Installs Life-Saving Defibrillator with support from MISSEDABEAT

Sheila, a dedicated member of the Henknowle Community, was inspired to lead the defibrillator appeal, recognizing how crucial this life-saving device can be in emergencies. Living in a community with a mix of older and younger residents, Sheila knew the importance of having rapid access to a defibrillator.

Previously, the nearest 24/7 defibrillator was located 0.7 miles away from the Manor Pub and the surrounding area. In a crisis situation, every minute matters, and this distance could mean the difference between life and death.

The defibrillator cabinet is now installed to the right-hand side of the arch at the side of the Manor Pub, making it easily accessible for emergencies.

Thanks to the incredible efforts of the community—through race nights, raffles, bonus ball draws, prize bingo, football cards, and generous donations from individuals and groups—the funds have been raised to install a defibrillator in a central and accessible location.

MISSEDABEAT has also placed charity boxes behind the bar at the Manor Pub. Customers can donate their loose change or make contributions, helping to fund the ongoing costs of replacement pads and hygiene packs needed to keep the defibrillator ready for use.

As part of their commitment to raising awareness, MISSEDABEAT will be hosting an awareness training session at the Manor Pub. Residents and customers are invited to attend this session to learn how to use the defibrillator and understand what to do in a cardiac emergency. This is a fantastic opportunity to ensure the community is prepared and confident in using this life-saving device. More details about the session will be shared soon.

This achievement is further supported by Ben Simpson, a cardiac arrest survivor who continues to work alongside MISSEDABEAT, installing defibrillators and advocating for their importance within communities. His dedication is a powerful reminder of the impact these devices can have.

Sheila extends her heartfelt thanks to the residents of Henknowle, customers and staff at the Manor Pub, and the MISSEDABEAT foundation for their unwavering support. This defibrillator is a vital resource that will ensure greater safety for everyone in the area.

Your efforts are a shining example of what a community can achieve together. Well done, Henknowle!
